Brianna's Travel and Tales
Okay, okay, so I know I’ve been slacking with the whole blogging thing.  I did
spend about an hour and a half writing a blog one night, only to have it disappear
when I tried to post it.  Since then I haven’t had to motivation to write another
one.  Now that I’m about 6 months behind on blogging, I might as well just start
with the race season events that we have been going to.

The first outdoor event we do each year is Daytona Bike Week.  It has proven to
be an interesting event over the past few years, especially from a vending
standpoint.  Every year that we go there, things change.  While I usually like
change, these have not always been good changes.  From year to year, our
location totally changes.  Generally, at these type of event, some consistency is
good.  Vendors and spectators seem to agree on this.  Last year they had all the
vendors kind of spread out randomly.  This year they had them all together, but
it seemed like there were only 20 vendors there.  This is Bike Week.  It just
seems like it could be such a bigger, better event than it is anymore.

Anyway, it was still a good event for us.  We were steady all week long.  As
always, we met lots of interesting people.  I met some guys who taught me the
tricks that men use so that their spouses don’t know about large purchases.  I’m
talking about men that have motorcycles that their wives don’t know about.
Scary.  Of course, women do the same exact thing.  Only I think women do it
with clothes and shoes, not vehicles.

I also met a man with two girlfriends.  I’m sure I meet lots of them and don’t
know it, but this guy pretty much laid it all out there for me.  That was a first.

I also met a fun group of guys from the UK.  They were entertaining, full of
jokes and laughs.

I always enjoy going to Bike Week, not just because the work is fun, but the play
is fun too.  I get to see lots of racing (although I missed more of it than I would
have liked to this year), see lots of crazy people, and enjoy lots of good food.
Most memorable food from this trip would have the be the homemade ice cream
cake at the Ale House.  Yum.

I only made it to one night of flat track racing this year, but that was fun as
always.  Definitely my favorite type of motorcycle racing to watch, and if you
have never seen it, you really need to check it out.  As opposed to a lot of road
racing, you can actually see the entire track from one spot.  You get to see so
many battles, which is the best part of racing.  It is just so exciting to watch.  I
cannot wait for the races at Springfield.

Also at the flat track race this year, we saw a rocket shooting through the sky.
That was the first time I’ve seen a rocket in the sky, so I was really, really
excited.  For those of you who don’t know (which is probably all of you), I am
kind of obsessed with the sky, the stars, sunrise, sunset, and now rockets.

Another thing that made Bike Week special this year is that a couple of our
friends from The Bouncing Souls were there.  The Bouncing Souls are a punk
band from New Jersey.  They are an awesome group of guys with lots of great
songs.  Brian and Pete from the band were at Bike Week because they were
involved in a project with Harley Davidson.  They were doing all kinds of fun
Bike Week stuff and blogging about it on the Harley site.  It was cool to see them
there and spend a little bit of time with them.

Okay.  I thought I was going to get up to date with this blog, but it’s getting late
and I need sleep.  Considering I slept through my alarm for an hour and twenty
minutes this morning (sorry, Rob), I should try going to bed a little earlier
tonight.  Which means that all you are getting in this blog is the Bike Week
report.  Hopefully another blog won’t be far behind.

Ride safe, everyone.  Goodnight.
