Brianna's Travel and Tales
hello, hello! i got a little lazy with my blogging, i know. actually, it just tough
since i'm only home 2-3 days a week. anyway, i'm back and ready to update.
The show in Fort Worth, TX was fun, as always. For the third show in a row,
open face helmets and the XD (Arai's dualsport helmet) seemed to be the big
hits. I can understand why open face helmets would be popular in Texas with the
heat. It is funny to see how much the XD has taken off since last year. The XD
has been around for a number of years now, and people are just starting to take
notice of it. But it is an awesome helmet and feedback has been great. it's the
perfect solution for any one that rides both street and dirt, but just wants one
helmet that can do it all.  as was the case in fort worth last year, there was
another dealer there selling Arai (although not the same dealer as last year). Their
prices were great (as in below OUR cost), but unfortunately, they had no
concern about what size helmet they were selling to consumers. like the customer
that came to our booth after purchasing a helmet there. she purchased a
large....she is an extra small. wow! i don't know why it surprises me anymore. at
every show, consumers tell us that they have never received the kind of service
we provide. they have never been fit properly. etc, etc. after working at The
Service Pavilion for three years, it just makes me sick to see the lack of integrity
of other dealers. I'm not pointing fingers or referring to any one dealer, it's a
widespread problem. I do realize that Rob has started a really unique business,
but I can't help but be shocked by what I see going on with other
retailers.Anyway, now onto the fun stuff. you guessed it...the food! In Fort
Worth, I had a crepe for the first time. WOW. It was amazing! I had a crepe
with strawberries, bananas, whipped cream, and strawberry sauce. it was so
tasty. and it got a lot of looks and comments as I was walking back to the booth
with it. i don't think i've ever gotten so much male attention! :) it was funny. but
the crepe was so good i had to get another the next day.On Friday night, Rob,
Austin, and I went to a local hangout called Billy Bob's. Wow, what a place.
Over 100,000 square feet. There were video games, a bar, a HUGE dance floor,
tables, a little cafe/eatery area, a big gift shop, live bull riding, and a TON of
people. It was really neat. So neat that Austin decided he wants to move to
Texas. On Saturday night, we went to Texas de Brazil. YUM. We ended up
inviting some other friends to share in the fun, and ended up with a party of 8.
What a great time we had. The food was amazing, as always. But it's always fun
to go there with people that have never been there before. One of the people that
joined us declared that it was the best steak he ever had in his life. I don't doubt
it. Although I think he ate a bit too much, as he got really quiet, withdrawn, and
sleepy eyed by the end of the meal (and yes, i have pictures...haha). Austin (who
works with us) prepared for Texas de Brazil all week by pigging out and
"stretching his stomach". By the time he was done eating, he looked drunk. It
was hysterical (and i have pictures of that, too). A few of the other guys ate well
and enjoyed themselves, but seemed to have a little more self control. Our friend
Aime had so much red meat that she swore it off after that dinner. Rob and I
enjoyed every bite and can't wait to go again. After Forth Worth, Austin flew
home and I stayed out for the drive to San Mateo. On Monday, Rob and I went
to downtown Ft Worth to check out the old stockyards. There was a lot of
history that I knew nothing about prior to that trip. It was very interesting, and
we even got to see a cattle drive. They we walked through some of the historic
area and checked out all the cutesy gift shops. That night we went to an
outdoor/strip mall thingy and did some shopping. Then we went to the movies.
But it wasn't a movie theater like anything i've seen here at home. When we
bought our tickets, they handed us a menu! We went into the theater where there
were a bunch of plush chairs on wheels, and tables! We sat down, pushed our
little buzzer thing when we ready to order, and a waitress came to take our order!
It was really cool! Definitely a unique experience. The best part was that the
prices for a meal there were comparable to a popcorn and soda at a normal
movie theater. Awesome. For the next few days, Rob and I enjoyed a beautiful
drive to San Mateo. There were some things that slowed us down, but we did get
to take in a lot of great scenery. I never get tired of driving across the country,
but I also don't have to do to the driving! I can't say it enough, though - I have
THE best job in the world!!!
