| BRING YOUR OLD HELMET ALONG WITH YOU! "Is this where I can trade my old helmet in?" That has been one of our most asked questions since we have introduced our new Helmet Trade-In program back in early May. Yes, thats right, trade your old or used helmet in and get credit on a new Arai Helmet! "What is it all about?" Our new trade-in program is like this. Your helmet cannot be more then 5 years old from the production date on the helmet. Any brand of helmet is welcome. What we do is give you an appraisal for your helmet and then use that as credit on a purchase for your new Arai Helmet! It works like trading in your used car for a new one. "How much is mine worth?" It is hard, because we may not give you what you feel your helmet is worth or what you have spent. But here is what we look at. Obviously Arai's and some of the higher end helmets will hold their value more to us then other models. No matter what brand it is we look at its age, then condition, then size. We also look at what our cost is to buy a new one. We look at your helmet at what it would take to refurbish it and how much it would cost us to do that. Its much like trading in a car. Once you drive you car off the lot, the value is reduced quickly. So...with that in mind we are giving you an option to get out of your old helmet and into an Arai. It may be anywhere from $5 to $450, seriously. But again its a win-win situation. "What do you do with the old helmets?" When we take trade-ins, we look at what we have to invest in them with time and parts to make them re-sell able. We then clean them, replace parts as necessary, tune them up and prepare them for selling! "What if I do not have my helmet with me?" With us not seeing your helmet at the event, it is a little more complicated. It is totally impossible to give you any idea what it would be worth without seeing it. You may have what looks like a brand new helmet, but what we look at and see, a lot of times is not what you see. Every little scratch or knick is considered. If you helmet interior shows signs of wear, smells or is discolored that is considered. If you would still like to send us your old helmet, we can arrange that in person at the event. I would appraise it and then give you a credit towards your new Arai purchase. If what we offer you is not what you would expect, we will gladly return your helmet to you with you paying for the return shipping charges. Hope that gives you an idea of what we are doing!
