| These 4 helmets are in my top most treasured helmets I own. The top left helmet is 1 of 3 in the world! (see photos below) It is a helmet made by the Arai Racing department to commemorate the 1994 125cc World Championship by Kazuto Sakata 1993 250cc World Championship by Tetsuya Harada & 1994 500cc World Championship by Mick Doohan What the uniqueness is, Arai had taken all three riders replicas and combined them into one helmet. The one side has Sakata's design, the opposite side has Harada's design and the center has Doohan's design. To complete the collection though, and the hardest part to complete was to get all three of the riders helmet replicas stand alones to accompany the special commemorative helmet. After lots of time searching and getting outbid at online auctions I got one of each. Enjoy the photos. |

| Here is one my favorites! 1979 Grand National Dirt Track Champion STEVE EKLUND 1955-1991 He wore this helmet in his 1979 Championship season. One of the top privateers in dirt track history. I never saw him race, but loved looking at pictures of him racing when I was younger and getting into flat track racing. He was the first American racer that Arai Helmet Co. ever sponsored back in the 1970's. This helmet was sent to Mr. Arai after Steve won the championship. Now fast forward exactly 20 years later. When working for Arai Helmets Americas, some staff at Arai Japan found out I was a Eklund fan....this showed up in the mail! I was in shock and cannot put in words how proud I am of this helmet. Another side note, back in 1992 it was my Junior Pro year when I was chasing my dirt track dreams. We raced the the Junior National Championship Series and I got to race against a guy named Jeff Eklund. He was Steve's nephew. He was really fast. I really felt that was great to race against an Eklund. Please goto this wesbsite to learn more about him! http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org |
