VAS-V Pinlock PrecisionTone Transition Lens

The VAS-V Pinlock PrecisionTone Lens has the same anti-fog technology that you know and love from Pinlock. In addition, this PrecisionTone lens from Pinlock is meant to transition from clear to tinted in the sun.
What allows transitional lensesand shields to change tint in the sun are the UV rays. However, a natural property of the high-quality polycarbonate that Arai uses for their shields is that it prevents 99% of UVA & UVB rays from penetrating the shield.
For that reason, this lens will only tint from clear to a very light tint in the sun. (If you take the lens in the sun by itself, it'll quickly change from clear to a dark smoke, but when
installed on the helmet, it will only go from clear to very light tint). As a result, we do not personally recommend this product, but know that some consumers still want it, which is why we have it available for purchase.
Please look at the photos. The photo of the helmet with the shield installed shows how much the lens will tint in the sun. That photo was taken immediately after the helmet was in full, direct sunlight. There is also a comparison photo that shows a light tint shield vs the PrecisionTone lens when tinted (the photo was taken less than 60 seconds after coming in from outside).
No matter what, this lens will work great as an anti-fog lens. But if you are looking for something that changes from clear to dark smoke, this will not do that. If you are okay with just a very slight tint, then you will be happy with this product.
